I was reading a book the other day while at the same time listening to the news on the television and although Mark my husband can do both at once and still retain information from both I can't. Strange that because women are meant to be the multi-taskers of our society. When I put the book down which was a Bill Bryson book, I sat back and felt very low. This is not the way a Bill Bryson book usually leaves me, I am often heard laughing out loud. So although I was not really paying attention to either the feel I was left with was feeling dispirited.
I don't know whether you have noticed but there is rarely any good news these days and I have been taking it upon myself to monitor how I feel after each session of news watching and the results are not positive. Things are very hard I know but thinking in a negative frame of mind does not make issues any easier to cope with. some months ago the minister at our Church said that Mother Theresa would never got to a "Stop the War Rally" but if invited she would always try to accept the invitations to a "Peace March"
As a result of this a number of my friends and I have started limiting access to the news to just once a day, in the morning avoiding the late night fixes in the evening and reports so far show that sleep is more beneficial and when waking people are feeling more refreshed and ready to take on the challenges of the day.
Our state of mind is affected by all that surrounds us so make sure that it is the positive things that we take on board while shunning the negative and more destructive feelings.
Think and feel happier and that is what you will attract over the coming days.
